FAMILY CONVERSATION KITS

Family Conversation Kits are a carefully curated set of books partnered with a guide to help families begin or continue important conversations about diversity and equity. These kits are presented in partnership with the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library, Altoona Public Library, and the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley.

We strongly believe that families and youth WANT to be having conversations about diversity and equity, but many hesitate because they don’t know where to start or fear they’ll say the wrong things. Our goal is to build in our youth an understanding of and empathy for people who are different from them, paving the way for a more equitable, welcoming community.

What you will find:

Each kit focuses on a specific facet of diversity. Current Kits include Asian and Latinx. Forthcoming Kits include LGBTQ+, Black/African American, and Muslim
